Oxford will be dazzled by drag and besotted with burlesque when Pride festivities return later this month.
Celebrating Oxford Pride from May 25 to June 3, producer and host Ginger Tart will bring cabaret OxPHWOARd to town, jam-packed with subversive drag and burlesque.
Ginger said: “Representation is a real issue in the LGBT community.
“All too often the only type of LGBT people we see in the media are cis, white, able bodied gay men.
“I wanted to change the narrative and create a more inclusive atmosphere that speaks to a wider range of people.
“Our cast features women, trans and gender non-conforming people, people of colour and people with disabilities. It’s important to show that LGBT minorities do exist and they’re amazing and clever and creative.
“Pride is for everyone, so why not prove it with our performers?”
Lily Belle and Benjamin Butch with perform at the event, while Pi the Mime and Rubyyy Jones will host character and performance workshops.
OxPHWOARd has been running for two years celebrating diversity by bringing together people of different genders, sexualities, ethnicities and disabilities in the LBTQIA+ community.
OxPHWOARd will take place on May 31 at the Old Fire Station as part of the Oxford Pride Festival.
