Restaurants and cafes in north Oxfordshire were recognised for going above and beyond in providing nutritious and healthy food for their customers.
Eat Out Eat Well organised by Cherwell District Council has presented its first set of winners with gold, silver and bronze awards at Bloxham Mill.
Prodrive and Reg’s Café from Banbury, Copper Kitchen and Savoire Fare from Bicester, The Stables from Bodicote, and Mulberry Café in Cropredy all scooped gold in the first round of awards.
Blue Apple Catering in Banbury received a silver award and The Black Bull in Launton received bronze.
Cllr Kieron Mallon, Cherwell’s lead member for public protection, said: “We want to recognise the businesses that are doing their best to encourage a nutritious diet, both in the quality of their cooking, and how they promote it to their customers.”
Food caterers in the district can apply for an Eat Out Eat Well assessment to be considered for an award – the caterers are assessed on the food on offer, cooking methods and how healthy options are marketed to customers.
The winners have their names recorded in a national database which people can check before choosing where to go for a slap-up meal or takeaway.
