Award-winning children’s author Julia Donaldson will join hundreds of schoolchildren in a musical extravaganza later this month.
The creator of The Gruffalo will perform her popular live show alongside 900 youngsters from 28 schools at the county’s Centre for Music in Headington.
The youngsters will take part in three performances on April 25, in front of packed-out audiences of family and friends, and will sing along to songs from her famous stories.
The shows feature musical numbers from the songbook A Treasury of Songs.
Jess Gray, central area manager for the county music service, said: “It’s a real privilege to welcome Julia Donaldson to our Centre for Music.
“To have so many schools taking part and learning the songs is fantastic, and I’m sure it will be a memorable day for everyone involved.”
Julia, who received an MBE in 2011 for services to literature, began her career in theatre which is how she met her husband Malcolm.
Oxfordshire’s Centre for Music is located on Bayswater Road, Headington.
