An Oxford-based business specialising in hand-crafted leather goods is expecting to ship almost a tonne of Christmas goods through Heathrow this month.
Pampeano took part in the airport’s 12 Exporters of Christmas social media campaign which highlights individual stories of SMEs across the UK that rely on air freight to export British Christmas essentials.
The Littlemore company typically ships 920 kilograms of its leather pieces over the Christmas period, a 146% increase on December last year.
Jennifer Brown, founder of Pampeano, said: “As our product sells faster than we can make it, we have to bring it in by air freight not sea freight and as the main cargo hub, it all passes through Heathrow, both on the way in, and then again for non-EU exports.”
Salmon, frozen lobster and dried flowers are among the record volumes of Christmas cargo expected to fly via Heathrow to the rest of the world over the festive season.
