Campaigners raising money for new play areas in Witney are asking residents to help with a much-needed cash boost.
Members of the Activate:Madley Park project are asking for people’s votes to have a chance at bagging up to £4,000 through carrier bag sales in Tesco stores.
Shoppers can now vote for one of three projects in the Bags of Help initiative in the four Witney Tesco stores, the A40 Express store and two stores in Kidlington, from now until the end of February.
This is to help the group raise more than £100,000 so work on two new fun and inclusive play areas on Madley Park can begin later this year.
Katherine Quigley, Madley Park resident and fundraising volunteer said: “This is a quick and easy way for the people of Witney to get involved in raising funds for our project. Just ask for a blue token as you check out at any local Tesco store and vote for Madley Park Residents’ Association. If we were lucky enough to get the top award it would provide a fantastic boost to our fundraising efforts.”
The project will feature a play area for under 12s and will replace the outdated Cedar Drive Park.
The project will also create a new area on the playing fields dedicated to older children.
