Two Oxfordshire skiers have been crowned British champions at the British Rollerski Championships in Castle Combe, Wiltshire.
Holly Rees-Lay, 21 from Woodstock, who is part of the British Nordic development squad, claimed the senior female title after a wet but competitive weekend of racing.
Didcot’s Beth Ireland, 16, matched Holly’s top spot and was crowned Under-18 female British champion.
The British Rollerski Championships was the final leg of the 2017 GB Rollerski Series, with both athletes also claiming overall series wins in their categories after some stunning performances over the summer.
Both Holly and Beth will compete in Cross Country FIS races in Europe over the winter season.
As well as spending time overseas, the pair will continue with regular training sessions at Hillingdon and Redbridge cycle circuits
Neil Salmons, from the British Nordic development squad, said: “The results are really impressive and reflect the huge amount of hard work and dedication they have put into training throughout the summer.
“This stands them in very good stead for successful and exciting winter racing on snow.”
