Ex-Oxford United Women star Ini Umotong scored against her former teammates for the second time in two matches.
The Brighton & Hove Albion striker scored the fourth goal in an easy 5-1 Seagulls win over the U’s last week.
Umotong, who also netted in November’s 2-2 draw, grabbed a well-deserved goal on the south coast with a fine finish nine minutes from the end.
The defeat made it four away losses on the spin for the homesick U’s, who remain in sixth place in the WSL2.
Aileen Whelan was the stand out player at Culver Road, scoring a hat-trick.
It was Kate Natkiel who opened the scoring though with a rifled finish on four minutes.
Whelan opened her account on the half hour mark, converting from an Umotong knockdown as Brighton dominated.
United were back in it on the hour when Chloe Chivers found the back of the net from distance.
Whelan (71 minutes) restored the two-goal cushion with a clinical finish following some more impressive play from Umotong.
Umotong, Oxford’s top scorer between 2016 and 2017, made it 4-1 and Whelan (84) rounded the win and her hat-trick with an unstoppable finish.
Oxford are next in action on March 25 when they entertain Millwall Lionesses.
