Frilford Heath member Eddie Pepperell flew straight from the European Tour season finale in Dubai to open new state-of-the-art facilities at the south Oxfordshire golf club.
Following a superb campaign, which was rounded off with a tied-48th finish at the Dubai World Championships, the world number 141 returned to his hometown club to open an impressive performance centre and golf shop.
The new high-tech performance centre allows players to try some of the world’s leading courses with the help of an innovative golf simulator.
And the shop, boasting latest custom fitting technology, will help golfers reach the top of their game with tailor-made equipment.
Pepperell was joined by England Golf CEO Nick Pink as the pair opened the doors for the first time to welcome members and the public last week.
The Abingdon man said: “We live in a world that is ever changing in terms of new technology and innovation, and golf isn’t immune to those changes.
“To remain as one of the UK’s leading sports, golf needs to embrace technological advances and bring it into the game. The new state-of-the-art performance centre here at Frilford Heath does just that.
“We need to make golf an attractive proposition to the next generation of players so if we can do that by introducing simulators and custom fitting technology to make the sport more accessible then today’s launch can only be a good thing.”
