A drayman from Greene King’s Abingdon depot has retired after 49 years of delivering beer to pubs across the region.
Terence Neal, known to his colleagues as Tex, was presented with a personalised commemorative bottle of Old Speckled Hen beer and specially created cask beer pump clip featuring his name, on his last day.
The business downed tools last month to mark the occasion at the Nuffield Way depot before hosting a party for Tex.
Current and former employees of the depot who have worked with him over the years were invited.
David Carr, head of operations for Greene King, said: “Forty-nine years of loyal service is a phenomenal achievement by anyone’s standards and we wish him a long and enjoyable retirement.
“Tex is a hugely likeable chap and will be missed by his colleagues and customers alike, many of whom he has visited every week for many years.”
