BICESTER and North Oxford’s (BNOCC) seconds XI are still searching for their first victory of the season after tieing another match.
They racked up their sixth draw of the season at home against Westbury while chasing 268 to win, despite an innings of 94 from Matt Collins and contributions from Will Irving (39) and Adam Gould (27).
BNOCC won the toss and elected to field with Trevor Price getting them off to a good start by removing Alan Green for two and then Tom Boardman for 22.
However 46 from Joseph Nuttings and Andrew Lees with 54 helped Westbury recover and built a platform for Tom Young, who scored 85 not out.
Westbury recovered and batted aggressively, ending on 267 with BNOCC bowlers struggling to control the flow of runs.
In reply, Stafford Sansome went for 10, but Collins and Irving, and then Collins and Gould, gave Bicester some hope of claiming their first victory of the season.
But this was short-lived as Young matched his impressive batting with excellent bowling figures of 5-64.
He ripped into the BNOCC middle order but it was the wicket of Collins that put pay to any hopes of that elusive first victory.
Harry Rhymer (3-53) also chipped in with wickets and Conway and Randall batted out the remaining overs to hold out for the draw.
