Bicester and North Oxford Cricket Club celebrated a successful season at the club’s annual dinner and presentation night.
Dan Savin’s 29 Division 4 wickets, taken at 13.26 runs each, saw him claim the 1st XI player of the year award in a season that also saw the side gain promotion back to Division 3.
Club stalwart Steve Conway’s 25 wickets at just 10.7 runs apiece earned him the 2nd XI player of the year prize, and helped them to a strong third-placed finish, just missing out on promotion.
The 3rd XI player of the year award was scooped by the returning Marcus Mears, whose 199 runs at an average of 22 helped the side finish sixth in Division 9 North.
Also vital to the 3rd XI was George James, who claimed the Youth Player of the Year award for his mature performances with both the bat (167 runs at 18.6), and with the gloves behind the stumps.
The Clubman of the Year Award was shared between 1st XI captain and vice-captain Ryan Moore and Olly Ward for their efforts off the field, organising and promoting the club’s increasing number of social events.
Preparations for the 2017 season get under way in January, and new players of all abilities are encouraged to attend the winter net sessions taking place at The Cooper School, Churchill Road, Bicester.
