Eye-catching luminescent designs have been revealed for the climbing wall area of Oxfordshire’s newest leisure centre.
The artist impressions were drawn up for the £18.8million Wantage and Grove facility, based between the two in Mably Way.
Vale of White Horse District Council released the images after it submitted an official planning application to its own planning team.
In addition to the colourful multi-climbing experience, the centre will include a sports hall, 25 metre six lane swimming pool, learner pool, confidence water, health and fitness suite, three studio spaces, cafe and an outdoor floodlit artificial grass pitch as well as 250 parking spaces.
Small changes have been made to original designs following the public consultation held last summer when the plans were met with enthusiasm form the community.
Vale leader Matthew Barber said: “I’m sure residents are as excited as we are that the new leisure centre for the Vale is becoming a reality now the planning application has been submitted.
“The council recognises the need to build new community facilities such as this before the majority of new homes are built in the area.”
New homes are expected to be built at sites such as Monks Farm, Crab Hill and Grove Airfield.
The council expects to secure planning permission by the summer with the aim of opening the centre in 2020.
