Oxfordshire MP Layla Moran was ‘blown away’ when she officially opened a new state-of-the-art engineering and technology training hub.
MS Moran, MP for Oxford West and Abingdon was all smiles when she joined a host of local dignitaries, employers and senior management at the Abingdon and Witney College launch event.
The £4million high-tech Advanced Skills Centre hub, based on the Abingdon campus in Wootton Road, aims to develop the engineering and technology skills of the area.
Guests were treated to interactive activities and displays showcasing the innovative technology at the new centre.
The college also officially received its Beacon Award which it won in November 2017 recognising its teaching and learning.
College Principal Di Batchelor said: “The guests were clearly impressed with not only our fantastic new building, but also the innovative and engaging activities put together by our dedicated teachers and students.
“We consider ourselves very lucky to be able to continue to invest in our facilities and hopefully the Beacon Award is one element shining a light on our hard-working teams and their successes.”
Completed in January, the new engineering technology site was funded through the 2014 Oxfordshire Growth Deal.
