A Post Office will be opening in an Oxford supermarket after a long campaign by councillors and residents fighting for a branch to be opened in East Oxford.
The new facility will open at the Co-Operative store in Iffley Road, although a date is yet to be confirmed.
The nearby Donnington branch, located a few doors down, closed in March 2017 following the resignation of its postmaster.
The PO confirmed opening hours would be from 6am until midnight from Monday to Saturday and from 7am until midnight on Sundays.
A petition started by Green councillors David Williams and Craig Simmons attracted 737 supporters.
The pair also held several meetings with PO representatives.
Cllr Williams said: “I am absolutely delighted that the Post Office have listened to the weight of public opinion.
“When I was looking for alternative locations, the Co-op seemed ideal and the management were keen to make it happen. I am glad it has all worked out.”
